GoHP Hospital Charges

The charges levied at the counter of a Himachal government hospital, gathered from four notifications and searchable in one place. These are not CGHS rates and not a reimbursement ceiling — they are what the hospital itself bills.

What it is

A searchable list of 1,073 charges taken from four notifications: the Rogi Kalyan Samiti rate list for IGMC Shimla, its emergency laboratory list, the user charges for IGMC Chamyana, and the National Health Mission's list of diagnostics provided free at government facilities.

Each item carries what it costs in a general ward and in a private ward, the department it sits under, and which notification it came from. Where a test is on the free list as well as a priced one, the entry says so in its remarks rather than appearing twice.

How to read an entry

The two figures are the ward rates as printed. Where one figure was printed across both columns it applies to either ward, and where a row prints something the columns cannot hold — the NICU/PICU line reads “110/60”, one figure per unit — the entry keeps the wording verbatim rather than splitting or averaging it.

Item names are reproduced as printed, misspellings included, because a bill is written from the same notification. Searching folds the obvious variants together: “Blood Urea” and “Urea” are one test, so are “4D & 3D USG” and “4D&3D USG”.

What it is not

It is not a reimbursement entitlement. What a hospital charges and what a claim is admitted for are different questions: the second is decided under the medical attendance rules, which bring in the referral, the recognition of the hospital and the approval of the treatment. Nothing here speaks to any of those.

It is also not the CGHS schedule, which is a Central list used against a private hospital's bill and is reproduced separately.

Where the figures come from

Four of the notifications are scanned photocopies with no text layer at all, so every figure was read from an image and then read again independently to check it. Where a digit could not be settled the entry is marked rather than presented as certain — 37 of 1,073 carry that mark today.

Three rows of one notification have no name in its text layer at all. They are reported rather than stored, so nobody invents a name for them later.
