This walkthrough shows how to compute basic pension, gratuity and the commutation value on retirement under the CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972, using the Pensionary Benefits calculator — with every intermediate figure shown so it can be checked line by line.

What this tool does

It takes your qualifying service and last drawn emoluments, applies the prescribed pension formula to compute your basic pension, calculates retirement gratuity, and — if you choose to commute a portion — works out the commuted value and the resulting reduced monthly pension.

What you'll need

  • Your total qualifying service, in years and completed months.
  • Your last drawn basic pay (and any emoluments counted for pension).
  • The fraction of pension you intend to commute, if any.

Reading your result

The result card shows your basic pension, retirement gratuity, and — where applicable — the commuted lump sum alongside your reduced monthly pension after commutation. Every figure traces back to the inputs above, so it can be checked against your pension papers.

The calculator follows the CCS (Pension) Rules formula. Always verify the final figure against your office's pension papers before submission.
